Building Automations with n8n and Claude

Today you learned how to build automations using n8n and Claude.

Individual Assignment

Find a process you can automate and build an automation for it.x

Pick one repetitive, manual process that currently eats your time. It can come from your own work, from a pod mate’s job, or from a real business you've found online. The only requirement is that it should be a task a human is doing by hand right now, where a machine could do the heavy lifting instead.

Once you've picked it, map the process out before you touch any tool. Write down the trigger (what kicks it off), the steps in the middle, and the final output. Then build it in n8n, using Claude wherever intelligence is needed, things like drafting a reply, summarizing, classifying, tagging, or making a decision. n8n handles the plumbing between apps, and Claude handles the thinking.

Here are a few processes worth looking at, just to get your head moving:

The only rule

Whatever you build has to actually run end to end. A workflow sitting half-finished in n8n does not count. You should be able to trigger it and watch it work, from the first step to the final output, without manually nudging it along.

Since you can't hand over a "link" to an automation the way you would a website, your proof is a short screen recording (a Loom or similar) showing the automation running live, plus your n8n workflow.

Requirements to pass
